Via The Loop, I found this short but really well done YouTube about David Fincher's film-making style and technique:
David Fincher is one of my favorite directors. I will watch pretty much anything he's done, even The Game and Panic Room. People tend to shit on Alien3, but I actually like it, and if you haven't seen the Assembly Cut version of the movie that is in the Alien Anthology blu-ray set that came out in 2010, you are missing out. Fincher refused to be involved in the production and release of the box set, the this cut is apparently quite close to his original (and elusive) workprint.
There are two Fincher films I have not seen. The first is Gone Girl, due to the fact that having two young kids makes it nearly impossible for me to see movies when they are still in the theater. The second is The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, due to the fact that I hated, hated, hated the book, and I am skeptical that even Fincher's craft is enough to justify sitting through that story again.
If Fincher's not your bag, the same guy who did this YouTube has a bunch of other videos, analyzing various aspects of film. They are all worth watching.
