Rooting for Trump to fail

"We need to wish Trump well and hope he succeeds" can mean one of two things:

  1. We hope that he suddenly becomes a radically different person than he has been throughout his campaign, as well his decades-long career.
  2. We hope that he is able to carry through the promises he has made during the campaign, including forcibly deporting millions of people, abandoning our allies around the world, eliminating healthcare for twenty million Americans, increasing the proliferation of nuclear weapons, beating up and imprisoning his political opponents, pushing through massive tax cuts for the rich, and stopping any efforts to slow down climate change.

Which of those do you mean when you tell me I should wish for him to succeed?
