Trump's "tax plan" (quotes intentional) is gibberish and ought to be treated as such.

A few thoughts about this week’s news that Trump will be putting forward a tax plan:

  1. Trump has no policies or positions other than enriching himself, so trying to engage with this “plan” in any meaningful sense is a fool’s errand.
  2. There will be more of the same old right-wing claims about how tax cuts will spur growth and thus increase revenues. These claims are garbage, and should be treated as such.
  3. We will likely also be told that cutting corporate taxes is critical to spurring innovation and preventing companies from relocating to other countries. These claims are also garbage.

Mostly, point #1 is the important one to keep in mind. Nothing Trump says actually means anything.
